Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup onion minced
  • 2 15 oz cans tomato sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan plus extra for garnish
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound linguine or pasta of your choice
  1. Heat large skillet on medium heat.  Add olive oil and butter heating until butter melts.
  2. Add onion to skillet.   Cook for 2-3 minutes until onion is translucent fragrant. Add garlic and saute for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add tomato sauce and cream to pan.   Simmer for about 20 minutes until sauce has thickened up. 
  4. While pasta sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of water to boil. Add about 2 teaspoons of salt.
  5. Add pasta and cook according to package directions.  REMOVE 1/2 CUP OF PASTA WATER AND SET ASIDE.  Drain pasta.
