Cherry Almond Scones
Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp. granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 stick cold, unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk, plus more for brushing
- 1 cup halved cherries, I used this OXO cherry pitter for quick pitting of my cherries
- 2 tbsp sparkling sugar
For the glaze:
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar
- 3 tbsp milk or buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds, for topping
